Last week the National Rifle Association officially announced they were not endorsing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D - NV).

They also went out of their way to make it clear they were not endorsing Reid's opponent, Republican Sharon Angle -- who filled out the National Association for Gun Rights Federal Candidate Survey 100% pro-gun. A typical Washington non-statement, statement.

The NRA's "non-endorsement" statement brings up a number of important questions.

Does giving a candidate money not constitute a more-than-tacit endorsement? The NRA's Federal PAC gave Harry Reid $4,950 this year, for his 2010 reelection campagin.

Does speaking glowingly of a candidate or politician during an election year not constitute an endorsement? In the June 2010 edition (page 16-18) of the NRA's magazine, the American Rifleman, they featured an article highlighting the work Harry Reid has done with the NRA.
I firmly believe that actions speak louder than press releases.

In that spirit, our cartoonist outlined just what that the NRA's "non-endorsement" really means.

He played Prince's tortured, physically abusive, alcoholic father who survives blowing off half his head.

In Sugar Hill he was AR Skuggs, father of Roemello and Raynathan and heroin addict. Shot up by a mob boss some 30 years before the rest of his life was spent getting high and talking about the good old days.

In Tales from the Hood he was a demon. But c'mon, that was a crack-soaked demon if there ever was one. Demons are already from Hell, so heat wouldn't make them sweat like they... well, like they'd just got done sucking on a crackpipe.

Even in the General's Daughter he was cracked out. By the end of the movie, Colonel George Fowler is a sweaty, crack-fiending mess.

Most recently I saw him in an episode of Memphis Beat, the new vehicle with Jason Lee in it as the lead detective. The sound was down and I wasn't really watching, but as soon as I saw him I locked in. CWIII was a sweaty, bleary-eyed mess who looked in desperate need of having a conversation with the business end of a crack pipe.

I'm not offended because he's black, I'm offended because the guy is a great actor, but he keeps getting locked into these roles. But then again, you don't see too many 70-somethings getting work. Every sentence contains an anti-immigrant or anti-Mexican cliche--this is dialog that really pushes he evelope regarding the immigration reform issue, which is what this movie tries to approach both seriously and mockingly. The mock is hilarious; the serious slows down the movie with its preachy, touchy-feely lectures.

Hardworking illegals are portrayed as heroic; whites are portrayed as bigots, calling Mexicans lazy. The movie goes out of its way to portray every illegal either as a doctor, nurse, construction worker, day laborer, taco vendor, ice cream vendor--no job is left unturned. The running gag is that whites pick up the day laborers to do their septic tank work because they can't find anyone else to do the dirty work.

Well, Rodriquez, who has shown his polictics peripherally in most of his movies, including Spy Kids, wears his politics on his sleeve in this movie. The villain is a Texas senator (Robert De Niro) who wants to make all the illlegals build an electric fence around the border before sending them back to Mexico; but little does he realize that drug cartel money is paying for his election bid because the cartels stand to make more money if a border wall is built. There is a Minutemen type group (led by Don Johnson--remember him?)--killing illegals after saying "Welcome to the USA."

Laugh out loud funny for a few scenes, but the rest is grade B movie fare by an A movie director. Only thing I can recommend is Jessica Alba's nude scene, Lindsey Lohan's naked breast shot, and Michelle Rodriquez in low-rise jeans. For the immigration politics, I find the threads on this site much more funny. See it now if you like cliched politics and gratuitous violence.

Or rent it later, to slo-mo the chick scenes and ff the political soap-boxing.

P.S. Steven Seagal plays the "Mexican" cartel kingpin. Now, that's funny. Also, my favorite joke: Cheech Marin offers Machete a Cuban cigar; Machete says, I prefer Mexican, to which Marin opens another cigar box filled with marijuana joints the size of cigars. Ah, finally something completely different on the tube! Dexter is dark, strangely gripping and unlike anything I've ever seen on television. When was the last time you found yourself rooting for a murderer? Dexter Morgan is easily one of the most disturbing character's I've seen in a long time, yet I find myself anxiously waiting to see what he'll do next. His job by day is to help get the bad guys, yet I root for him to really get the bad guys at night when he delivers his own brand of vigilante justice. Will this guy ever get caught? How deep does his disturbing psyche go? What happened to him before he went to the foster home? Will he ever have a functional relationship with a woman? I for one cannot wait to see how this brilliant series will play out over the next few years. And make no mistake about it -- I believe this series will be around for a long time to come.

Most of the original cast has recorded dozens of lines, and a few orchestrated tunes give the game some extra pop. A few unimpressive rooms try to get by with one overly short clip. Sometimes you just can’t fool the ears, ya know?By the same token, you can’t always fool the eyes, andFamily Guyfeatures an honest if flawed visual effort. The blocky character models are forgivable, but the reckless cel shading paints a sloppy eyesore of an outline around disproportioned objects. (Sounds nitpicky, but it’s like every imprecise object in the game is now obnoxiously apparent.) The bright, clean visuals actually hurt the gameplay, making it extremely difficult to land jumps or see hazards. You’ll go wanting for a little auto-aim love, and at times you’ll actually wish the platform game was on rails. If you need any more proof that this game is a total throwaway, consider that Family Guy shipped a day before 2K Games’ other comedy bully Why double-book action comedies unless you need to get rid of one? And that’s whatFamily Guy is, an honest-to-god try at delivering the TV experience,Family Guy has to be one of the funniest TV shows ever made. It has the same sort of humour that the Simpsons has but takes the comedy to a completely new level.
There are so many scenes which make you cry with laughter because the jokes are taken so far,
