Have you heard of the new NO-CARB diet for 2004?

NO C-heney
NO A-shcroft
NO R-umsfeld
NO B-ush

And absolutely NO RICE!

Now that's a diet that I could, um . . . relish.

Ken, how do you figure Kerry would be an improvement? PLEASE don't tell me you're voting for Ralph Nader. Or maybe you're ready for the Peoples' Republic of North America...?

Not speaking for Ken, but I think just about anyone (including Kerry) would be an improvement over Bush. No recent president has done more to erode personal rights and liberties than Bush has.

How has your life changed, Jimbow?
My life has honestly not changed along those lines NOTICEABLY. I did have to give out extra information (which I apparently would not have had to a year or so ago) when I purchased my condo early this year. This info apparently is now required because of the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act. Assumedly it gets fed into some Big Brother tracking computer. Most of the things aren't things that people are going to notice and have "change" your life: tracking of library records, etc. They are even trying to consolidate tracking of ALL of a person's purchases: credit cards, groceries, phone bill, electric bill, etc. No, most of these things won't affect me overtly and since I am a "law-abiding" citizen I probably have nothing to fear. But that's is not the point.

Ken, how do you figure Kerry would be an improvement?

I DON'T! A dimes worth of difference between the Democrap's and the RepubliCON's would be a massive improvement. I take them together, and view them as the BOYN -- Boot On Your Neck Party.

PLEASE don't tell me you're voting for Ralph Nader.

IF I vote, I'll be voting for the Libertarian candidate -- who, it looks like, will be Aaron Russo. Not that mass murderer Nader!

Or maybe you're ready for the Peoples' Republic of North America...?

Between the Democrap's and the RepubliCON's, The People's Republic of America is already here!

Ugh i can't stand what is happening in this country and the crap that u get for saying something about it. Why is it the president and his cronies call you un-american when u don't agree with one of their policies? The government is not for the people anymore it's for the campaign contributors and each side is just as bad. It's a shame really and there is nothing we can do to change it other than starting all over but that obviously isn't going to happen. I can't wait to see what rights will be violated in the future with the excuse of national security and covered up under the guise of the american flag. It makes me sick to see the flag disgraced this way. It used to stand for those very rights that are being slowly but surely taken away. 9/11 has now turned into a slogan for the president to win the next election. He's a disgrace and when i see his face it makes me so mad that he can use a great tragedy in that way.You should be ashamed of yourself Mr.Bush.

I don't think he would be convinced even if you produce just that, Scott.

I even found an article where Bush (yes, the president himself) stated that the first step to being patriotic is exercising and getting yourself in shape.

that may very well be true, but speaking as a Marine, I would really hate to have another Clinton-type making decisions that affect those who have to put our lives on the line to defend the remaining rights and liberties.

For those of you wondering, I'm refering to then-President Clinton's military decisions, including disallowing American service members on guard duty to have loaded magazines in their weapons until fired upon. While I understand that many of those not too intelligent policy changes have since been remedied, I would hate to see their likes again.

I know that no candidate will be perfect, but I'd hate to be the one shot because of lousy policy--regardless of who instigated it...

Remember when that building in Beirut was blown up by a suicide bomber, killing a couple hundred Marines? The guards at the gate had empty weapons. The guy who instituted that policy was Ronald Reagan.

I know that no candidate will be perfect, but I'd hate to be the one shot because of lousy policy--regardless of who instigated it...

Remember what FPW said in ALL THE RAGE? (Paraphrasing here.)

"They yank young men out of their lives, put guns in their hands, and send them of to kill other young men who have been yanked out of their lives and had guns put in their hands. While these young men shiver in their foxholes hoping to live to see the next sunrise, the people who cause all the problems, the politicians, the generals, the priests, Mullahs, and tribal elders, sit back in their comfortable digs and move their chess pieces around."

When the politicians who vote to send troops into battle have to pick up their rifles and helmets and accompany those troops -- when those politicians are assigned to a rifle company, and have to actually do the fighting themselves -- THEN, and ONLY THEN will we discover what is REALLY worth fighting for.

I don't care if Senator Bullbleep is in a dregging wheelchair. He votes to send troops to fight -- he gets assigned to a rifle company. PERIOD!

I say if he can't serve, make sure someone in his family does. As far as I know, there's only one or two senators that have any family that are serving in the war. I know Sen. Johnson from SD here has a son serving (not sure if he was in Iraq or Afghanistan), but I'm not sure if there is anyone else.

My attitude is, if he -- or she -- is breathing, ship 'em out to a rifle company.

My father also said it well, "War is when one bunch of politicians gets mad at another bunch of politicians, and tell their people, 'Lets you and them go fight.'"

I remember that very well, and you're correct that it was Reagan who instituted it that time. Unfortunately, It seems to be one of the policies most easily flip-flopped for the sake of political "ratings."

Once again, I agree with your assessment. In fact, I never meant to imply otherwise. I'm not saying that the candidates are better or worse because of their party affiliation, policies, or personal bent. I'm simply pointing out why I'm less uncomfortable with one candidate, as opposed to the others. I'm sure that whenever I finish my service, my ideas and ideology will have evolved and changed with my continued experience. For now, however, if I am to be involved in (relatively) thankless military operations, I'm least uncomfortable with the current administration. That's all. :)

Well, Bush and Kerry both give me the creeps. Most of goofermint is run from behind the scenes anyway, so between the Democraps and RepubliCONS, I don't see as it makes terribly much difference who happens to occupy the Oval Orifice.
