Received today from Gauntlet Press:
CRISSCROSS, the new Repairman Jack novel by F. Paul Wilson, is set for an on-time release of June 2004 (a month earlier than most of our Repairman Jack novels). But, good news for our customers: our printer worked overtime to get copies of this book for our customers even sooner.
We will be receiving, at the end of this week, about 300 copies of the Numbered edition of CRISSCROSS (with the slipcases arriving soon afterwards). So, if you want a copy of this book sent to you next week, you will need to order it at this time. Otherwise you will receive your copy in a few weeks, when the remaining copies of the Numbered edition (along with the Lettered edition) arrive to our offices.
CRISSCROSS will probably sell out on or soon after publication. Although we fill our pre-orders first, dealer orders follow immediately afterwards. We already have over 100 orders from Baker & Taylor and Ingram. We won't fill those orders until we've serviced all of our customers, but once we send those dealer copies out (and we expect additional orders from these major distributors), chances are the book will be sold out.

My local bookstore pre ordered this for me approximately 3 weeks ago when I inquired.
One problem, through, the book is listing at $55.00- is this true or is this
simply my local bookstore having to special order a book
(I've ordered stuff in the past from them and it has never been like this)

Gee, I ordered mine for $30.00! No, seriously, I think that's the correct price.

You're just the comedian, aren't you Biggles? :D
It's a limited edition book therefore it's a bit more expensive.

Since he who dies with the most FPW limited editions wins, it's well worth the price.

Maybe I'll just wait for the buzz to die down.

No fair putting out a hit on someone just to get their collection.

I placed my order with Gauntlet in January. The numbered edition was $50.00 plus $8.00 shipping. So $55.00 is a reasonable price . . . if it's a numbered edition.

I'm leaving for Jersey this morning to go visit my family and attend the TCF. I'm hoping the book doesn't come before I get back; otherwise, my girlfriend will get it first, and she'll gain first reading rights.
She had Gateways. IT'S MY TURN!

Received today! This cover is easily my favorite out of the other Jack Gauntlet titles. A thicker book also - but for some reason, never thick enough. :p

Ain't it the truth! I'm currently staring at mine (well and typing this) trying to figure out some way to read it slowly.

"Beetle" as in Volkswagen or "Beetle" as in crawl on six legs or fly, perhaps in a large swarm, down to the post office?

Sounds like he's gonna hop in his Beetle and join a large swam of beetles as he crawls down to the post office.

Great! Mine might have arrived, but someone may be witholding it from me since my birthday's coming up. But I don't want to ask and ruin the surprise, but I also don't want to wait until June 4th to find out that there was a mistake and I never got my copy!

I understand your impatience. We've all waited a long time for this. Imagine my frustration in knowing I have another book to finish before I start Crisscross.
I'm currently reading Conceived In Liberty, Volume III 1763-1775, and have finished the section on the Boston Tea Party. I'm just getting into the Coercive Acts of 1774, and Crisscross is staring me in the face . . . frustrating I tell ya! FRUSTRATING!

The book came today! The book came today!
I want to start it immediately--but I'm in the middle of re-reading an old favorite. Sadly, the oldie but goodie deserves its due, so I'll have to finish it before starting on the new Jack book. DAMN ME AND MY BOOK LOYALTIES!

Damn, are you conflicted! Just take a deep breath.....there, doesn't that feel better? No? Well, then go to your local liquor store (assuming you're of legal age), buy a bottle of Irish whisky, and drink till you feel better.

ouch... sounds painful. I'm scared I might not have the time to read it... for about 6 months, and that's not because I have a pile of books I haven't read yet either, as it's going straight to the top of the queue when it arrives. ;)
can't wait, but I have to... damn the UK for not publishing this man.

Ugh, still no book and now I'm starting to worry. How long you think I should wait before I start making some calls?
On a side note, I figured I would get it today or tomorrow since I picked up Hidden Prey from John Sandford (my 2nd fav author behind FPW) and started it this week-end. I'm thinking FPW and Mr. Sandford need to get together and try to space thier books out just a little more as it's really tough to have both books sittine there and only being able to read one at a time. :D
