Somewhere during the course of conversation, the topic of looking for a particular movie soundtrack came up. I recommended Footlight Records (http://www.footlight.com) in NYC, and promised to post info about them. Follow the link and take a look. In my experience, Footlight is the best place in the world for finding soundtracks and cast recordings. No matter how obscure it is, if it exists somewhere in the world they are likely to have it, or know how to get it. Whenever I am in New York, I always make a point of visiting their store, and I always walk out with some unexpected treasure. If you happen to be in the city, they are located down on East 12th st. I have ordered from them both over the phone and online, and have always been very pleased with them.

113 East 12th Street, between Third and Broadway, near Union Square. Thanks, Ron, I'll check it out. I always love to find out things about the City from folks who don't live here. :D

I don't get to NYC very often, but when I do I kind of like to get outside of the touristy Times Square / Broadway neighborhood and explore the other areas. I especially love the old churches that have remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years as skyscrapers have sprung up all around them. I don't know of any other place in North America with that kind of spectacular mix of the very old with the very new. (Well, 'very old' being a relative term - I have never been to Europe but I gather the mixture in places there is even more extreme.)
The last time I was in the city was in December of '01, and obviously the wounds were still very fresh. I am looking forward to hopefully going back this summer and seeing how things have changed.

I live in Manhattan, a scant 7 miles from Ground Zero, and it took me 2 years to get down there after 9/11.
Well, I did stop there on my way back from Brooklyn on the Saturday after the event (9/11 was Tuesday). I walked around for a couple of blocks near the subway stop. I couldn't go further west because the Army was blocking streets and cops with huge guns and other armed personnel were everywhere, as was the awful thick dust that covered everything. Everything. Every nook and cranny of every building in the vicinity. I began to think about what that dust consisted of and then I had to stop. The thought was too terrible.
I got back on the subway and didn't return for another 2 years. It's possible, in New York, to be all over the City but not go into certain neighborhoods for years at a time, or ever.
I met a fellow who lived in Battery Park City, adjacent to Ground Zero. I was there a lot this past spring and summer. The whole of lower Manhattan has blossomed and it was just wonderful, even better than before, if that's possible.
Battery Park itself is probably my favorite place to hang out in the City. It runs along the Hudson and has great views of the spectacular Harbor. Beautiful!

Thanks Ron, I think it was in response to my comments about the lack of Die Hard and Joe Versus The Volcano soundtracks.
They have Die Hard 2, which I knew about, no Die Hard. Or Joe :(
But I'll certainly check it out next time I'm in NY, NY.

The Die Hard soundtrack was released by Varese Sarabande originally in 1988, and then again in 2002 apparently as a limited special edition. (See their web page for that soundtrack here (http://www.varesesarabande.com/details.asp?pid=VCL%2D0202%2D1004) ). So it definitely exists, just not very commonly. I'd say keep an eye on ebay.
It looks like pretty much the same story for Joe Versus the Volcano ( see the web page for that soundtrack here (http://www.varesesarabande.com/details.asp?pid=SRS%2D2014%2D2) )

With Die Hard 4 in production, maybe they will re-release the other soundtracks...... maybe?

Die Hard 4? Enough already. What? "Die Hardest"?

Thanks again, Ron. I'll keep my eyes open for the Die Hard soundtrack, but the Joe soundtrack I was looking more for a collection of the songs used in the film. I have several of them dotted around other CDs, but wanted a definitive collection, if you know what I mean.
Cheers
Dave
