View Full Version : Back from the GU
The others are still at WDW enjoying the Animal Kingdom, but Marcus and I are home already! We had a terrific time as usual and the newbies were fantastic this year. FPW was very accommodating, even doing some acrobatic chair tricks for us. I'll get the pics up Tuesday/Wednesday (no time today or Monday), but just wanted to check in. My daughter is green with envy so I have to go soothe her.
Lisa
As Lisa said we just got back (she, well, where ever she lives and me in Chicago). Overall, it was a very enjoyable time. We made new friends (Ron and Chris, a.k.a. Lokheed and... what do you post under Chris?) who have been LOOLed into the group.
I will try to get some pictures up later tonight or tomorrow. Free warning: none are of Paul. I was going to take some but Biggles took 30-40 pictures the two nights Paul hung out with us so I didn't want to be the catalyst to a seizure. Biggles will probably post some (I wouldn't be surprised if he posts them all) soon so I'll let him and the others gives you the goods on Paul. Me... I'll supply the wacky shots.
And by the way... is there anyone on the board that makes wine? Biggles is convinced (and he went on for a good twenty minutes about this last night) that you can make grass into wine. I'm not doubting it's POSSIBLE but I do doubt it's done on a regular basis. I did a web search and found nothing on grass wine. So, Biggles or anyone else, prove to me it can be done and how.
Time to go sleep. We were up until the wee hours last night so 'tis time for a nap.
One bonus pic for you until I do the rest...

Hey, Lisa!
That's a fabulous shot! What shiny, happy folks! It's a terrific pic of The Man, too.
And the newbies look joyous! Uh...wait...where are we?
Well, at any rate, I was there, so was Ron, aka Lokheed, and his fiancee Kris, who will post as Jazzhands.
It was a great time and I heartily recommend GU's for everyone!

I've attached a URL for a page I found with a recipe for Meade (it's toward the bottom of the web page). You'll note that all types of herbs are fermented in it. Grass would be no different. It would undoubtedly ferment, so it could be made into wine.

To clarify: I never said I had done this or would do it, just that it could be done. I think grass wine would probably taste vile!

I'll have to crop and reduce resolution on the pictures I post, so it will take a while to get them up.
This was taken Thursday night at the Pop Century resort food court.

Yes, indeed, I was on Effy's right and Ron (Lokheed) was on his left.
However, that is David next to me in the first of the three pictures that Biggles posted, lest anyone be confused.

It was so wonderful to meet you hilarious people. I hope Ron and I didn't come across as two people desperate to hang out with *anybody!* (We are :( )
You all were very gracious to take us into your group. You did a great job of "selling" Paul's writing to me, along with meeting him. I have a lot of reading ahead of me, but I am excited to get to it.

Hey Kris!
Welcome to the board!! It was SO great to meet you and Ron. You made me feel welcome! As newbies, I think we can all say the event was wonderful fun and meeting Paul was such a treat.
You, Kris, are such a sweetie, and I had a lot of fun talking, laughing and screaming with you . I have the Tower of Terror photo to prove it! With our heads thrown back and mouths open wide, you can almost hear the screams! Hysterical!
I hope we will see each other again (maybe when you and Ron come to NYC this summer?) and I sure hope you enjoy FPW's work as much as we all do.
You take care and have a *magical Disney day*!

Excellent photo, Lisa! Looks like everybody had a real fun time. (But who's that long-legged desperado on the right? Haven't I seen him on the Interpol web site? Big bounty on his head in several European nations? Not to mention Mars. )

No, they just left for their own reasons. This photo was pretty late in the evening, and Maggers had already gone back to her room to sleep. Ron and Kris had to go home to relieve the babysitter (grandma).

After Juan Garcia did such an awesome job breaking every traffic law created to get me to the Orlando airport on time, my flight from Charlotte to Little rock was canceled at 12:15 a.m. after having us sit for hours. I have to go through my camera and post some pics, I will do that soon.
I just wanted to pop on here and say a few things.
It was a blast as usual seeing you guys again and meeting Magger (RUN!), she was wonderful and I love her now, she will be mine oh yes.
Ron and Kris, you guys were great, and Ron, don't feel bad when Kris runs off with me, I am starting a harem and she will be a part of it. So far it is Lisa, Susan, Maggers and Kris. Get off me ladies!!!
The GU was awesome, despite no curb jump. Rituals were meant to be broken or something. You can insert your own witticism here. ( )
I need to shower and unpack, so I will talk to you folks later.

Why was your flight cancelled?
By the way, the bus driver Lisa and I had was a complete moron. He kept making claims that his bus was the 5:25 bus when, in fact, it was the 4:25. And he almost killed us when some woman asked for him to turn on the heat. He scrossed four lanes of traffic right after a toll booth and right towards a ditch. Thankfully he slammed on the breaks only to run out of the bus claiming he needed to start the generator or something for the heat to work.
Weird guy. That's all I'll say. For now.

I was just kidding, Jimbo. Thought maybe the Otherness was trying something. After all, all of our gang will be with Jack and Glaeken at the showdown. If Rasalom can make some of us disappear before then, well, dadburnit, the stronger he'll be.

Famous author Mary Elizabeth Murphy surprises us by dropping by and joining us for some sparkling conversation. She's seen with some guy who claims to be her husband. We forgot to ask her when the "Virgin" movie was coming out, but I've heard rumors that a certain well-known actress has been seen in tinseltown carrying a Virgin wireless cell phone and drinking a Virgin Bloody Mary at Trader Vic's.
